Wtf is going on with the Editor?

Guys, I’ve come back to WordPress after almost a decade and I literally cannot comprehend why the Editor is designed so badly. Is this just me?

Everything feels so clunky and counterintuitive. It’s like too simple and yet too complicated at the same time? I don’t want to go for a basic theme with little customisation that makes my site look too generic. But then when I want to make more of my own personal choices, it is so immensely difficult to find what I’m looking for and to do what I want to do!

I think the AI assistant literally just quit on me because I kept not finding what it was telling me to select. Please see below how our conversation just ended.

I was wondering if I was just being slow but then found actual inconsistencies within the layout and design. For example, when you click on Edit site, it takes you to the Editor where the Design and Styles are on the left. You have to click on the page to actually start editing, and then at that point, you can find the styles and layout settings on the right. Huh? Why is this duplicated…? I’m not even going to get into the other issues I’m coming across. Just needed to vent a little I guess. I find a lack of clarity and ease of use extremely frustrating. Especially when the objective is to make the process easier for individuals who are not professionals in the area of web development.

Please let me know if you also find it difficult to edit your site.
